When it comes to choosing your perfect cruise there are hundreds of different combinations that are on offer. The main part of your cruise is obviously the ship, there are differences between the large cruise ships and the smaller cruise ships that people may not take into consideration before hand.
Because there are so many different companies offering their variety of cruise deals with their own specialist cruise ships, there are many different types of ship available. Depending on the size of the cruise ship some facilities and amenities may or may not be available.
The larger cruise ships such as the
Queen Mary 2 have many different facilities ranging from multiple restaurants, various sized swimming pools, casinos
and gymnasiums. The larger vessels aren't for everybody though, some passengers prefer their cruises to be on a smaller
cruise ship. These smaller ships such as the
Clipper Odyssey have less facilities on board but can sometimes reach locations that the larger cruise ships can't.
Cruise ships are usually powered by twin diesel engines producing very large amounts of horse power, some of the cruise ships also have an additional engine which is used to aid the steering of the ship.
It takes years to design, develop and build a high quality cruise ship which can be used for vacation cruises, many companies are involved in the creation process at the shipyard which makes the process of building and assembling the ship much easier.

 Discount Cruises - Discount cruises are the same as ordinary cruises aside from the fact that they cost less. Because the cost of the cruise has been cut, the ship may not visit as many exotic locations or have as many on board facilities.
 Cruise Deals - In order for cruise companies to keep up with their main competition they need to offer cruise deals to their customers. These deals are discounts and special offers to the original cruise option.
 Princess Cruise - Princess Cruises are said to be some of the highest quality cruises with exceptional service to passengers. The company now has a wide choice of destinations and cruise ships.
 Last Minute - Last minute cruises are offered when the cruise ship is near to its departure date, cruise companies will want to sell any remaining ticket placements fast, so they offer them as last minute deals to customers.

Cruise companies are always attempting to go "one better" than their closest competitor, the Queen Mary 2 will be the largest cruise ship on the ocean until later in 2009 when Royal Caribbean International's newest ship, starts being developed under the project name "Genesis".
Where as the Queen Mary 2 is 1132 feet long and can hold up to 2620 passengers, Royal Caribbean International's newest ship will be 1181 feet in length and is estimated to hold up to 6400 passengers, making it the largest cruise ship on the ocean.
